About
Where We Began
The spark for Alice Michelle was a tablecloth found at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Its vivid blue and intricate suzani embroidery stopped Alice in her tracks. She brought it home and turned it into a shirt for her partner, Cam. He wore it around the Hamptons. Strangers kept stopping him to ask where they could buy it.
That was the beginning. The debut collection started with nine shirts, each inspired by that original tablecloth. The color palette draws from the shades of blue in the cloth: ocean tones and the natural colors that surround the sea. The fabrics are all cotton/linen, a mix of embroidered and printed styles. For the printed shirts, Alice collaborated with her mother, a painter, who took the floral motifs from the embroidered cloth and turned them into Japanese style ink paintings. She then translated those into fabrics. Each shirt closes with hook-and-eyes, a small detail that gives them a cleaner, more unexpected edge.
Where We Are Now
We started small, and we stay intentional. From that first shirt, we've grown into a collection carried in boutiques across the Hamptons and in Miami, Florida, built one small drop at a time.
Summer 2026 adds new core pieces to the collection: men's jackets, new short and long sleeve shirts, and our first women's style, one jacket, three colorways. It's a drop rooted in a month-long trip Alice and Cam took to Japan. She sourced fabrics, found inspiration in traditional Japanese ink paintings and vintage Japanese workwear, and brought both back with her. On the way home, they stopped in India to visit the factory and meet the team in person, to talk about the future growth of the brand.
The collection is the result of that journey: the sourcing, the travel, the people along the way.
